How strong are the strongest nicotine pouches? The strength race in numbers (2026)
Among 1,589 active products with a declared nicotine content per pouch in Snuskampen’s database (October 2026), the strongest white nicotine pouch declares 48.75 mg per pouch (FEDRS Black, 75 mg/g) and the strongest tobacco snus 43 mg (Siberia -80°C). The median product sits at about 10 mg. The extreme end is a thin tail — but it is the tail that drives the debate and the regulation.
What are the strongest white nicotine pouches?
Measured in nicotine per pouch, four brands lead. All are extra-strong pouches marketed to experienced users.
| Brand / product | mg/pouch | mg/g |
|---|---|---|
| FEDRS Black | 48.75 | 75 |
| Cuba Black | 43 | 66 |
| Iceberg | 40 | 50 |
| Pablo Exclusive | 30 | 50 |
Eleven brands have at least one white product at 30 mg per pouch or more: AROMA, BAGZ, Cuba, DOSH, FEDRS, Iceberg, Kingston, Kratos, Pablo, REBEL and Siberia. Want the full product-by-product list? SnusBattle ranks the strongest nicotine pouches with every variant.
What is the strongest tobacco snus?
Tobacco snus doesn’t quite reach the same levels. Siberia -80°C (X-tremely Black and Brown Power) declares 43 mg per pouch and stands alone; after that, the numbers drop quickly.
| Tobacco snus | mg/pouch |
|---|---|
| Siberia -80°C X-tremely Black / Brown Power | 43 |
| Siberia White Dry | 34.4 |
| Soldat Extreme | 27.2 |
| Odens Extreme | 22 |
| M8.se Arctic Super Strong | 19.6 |
| Knox Ultra Strong | 19.2 |
| Offroad X | 18.2 |
| G.3 Extra Strong | 18 |
There is a technical reason. In tobacco snus, the nicotine comes from the tobacco, and the content is limited by how much tobacco fits in the pouch and how the leaf is processed. In white pouches, nicotine is added as a salt or base and can, in practice, be dosed freely.
How strong is a typical pouch? The market distribution
| Nicotine per pouch | White pouches (count) | Tobacco snus (count) |
|---|---|---|
| < 4 mg | 81 | 3 |
| 4–8 mg | 346 | 37 |
| 8–12 mg | 497 | 77 |
| 12–20 mg | 332 | 61 |
| 20–30 mg | 71 | 4 |
| 30+ mg | 76 | 4 |
| Total | 1403 | 186 |
For white pouches, the median is 10 mg per pouch and 16 mg per gram; nine in ten products are below 20 mg. The largest group, 497 products, sits between 8 and 12 mg. For tobacco snus, the median is 10.5 mg and the 90th percentile 18 mg. Only 76 white products (5 percent) and 4 tobacco snus products are at 30 mg or above.
For comparison: Sweden’s most-searched nicotine pouch, VELO Crispy Peppermint, has 10 mg per pouch — exactly the median.
mg per gram or mg per pouch — which matters?
Cans often state mg per gram, but what you actually get is determined by mg per pouch. A 0.65-gram pouch at 75 mg/g delivers just under 49 mg; a 1-gram pouch at 50 mg/g delivers 50 mg. Two products with the same mg/g can differ a lot per pouch. The independent, brand-neutral Nicotine Index (NI 0–6) therefore classifies products by mg per pouch. SnusBattle applies the standard but does not own or define it. The median product lands at NI 4, and 109 white products sit at NI 6, above 20 mg per pouch. Searching for “150 mg nicotine pouches”? No product in the database declares that much per pouch. Figures of 100–150 mg usually refer to the whole can, or are marketing rather than a per-pouch number.
Is there a limit on how strong pouches can be?
Sweden currently has no statutory cap on nicotine in white pouches. The government inquiry SOU 2024:23 proposed a limit of 12 mg per gram. Under that limit, about 72 percent of today’s active white products would need to be reformulated — including VELO Crispy Peppermint at 14.3 mg/g. In October 2026, eight EU countries called for nicotine limits, among other measures, in the coming Tobacco Products Directive (see our analysis of the TPD3 letter), and Spain has pursued a per-pouch cap. The Netherlands has banned nicotine pouches outright.
In the US, the gap is even clearer: the strongest pouch the FDA has authorized is ZYN Ultra at 11 mg, and on! PLUS tops out at 9 mg.
High nicotine doses can cause nausea, dizziness and vomiting, especially in people who aren’t used to nicotine. The Swedish Poisons Information Centre reports poisoning cases from tobacco and nicotine products, and children are especially vulnerable.
What does this mean for manufacturers and brands?
Our read The strength race is a tail, not the market. Volume sits between 8 and 12 mg, and that is where the big brands compete. The extreme tail creates attention and search traffic, but it is also the clearest target for regulation — in Sweden and in the EU. A portfolio built on 30 mg and up is built on the most exposed part of the market. Three recommendations:
- Plan for a cap. Test now how your best sellers taste and sell at 12 mg/g. A reformulation ready on the shelf is a head start if a limit arrives.
- Be clear about mg per pouch. Consumers compare per pouch, and regulators will likely do the same. Unclear labeling risks both trust and enforcement.
- Use strength as a segment, not a strategy. A strong variant can extend a range, but the core belongs where the volume is.
